I had my 2000 Tahoe (GMT400 truck) up in the air and the driver's axle seal has seen better days, there is evidence of fluid leakage in the area. I push up on the axle (the flange where the CV bolts to) and I can literally push up on that flange at least a 1/4". Not good, and I'm positive this is the source of my clunk that I've been chasing for weeks.
What is involved in a complete 8.25 overhaul? Are the axle bearings something that need changing after 193,00 miles? What else should be replaced while I'm in there?
