Another LS swap question

Everyone and there momma is doing a 5.3 / 4l60 combo. True enough it has more hp & torque than a 5.7 tbi ; but is there any reason why the 6.0 / 4l80 or nv4500 isnt as popular?

For the avg person im assuming this is the most economical. Maybe tow a trailer 5/6 times a yr, and weight is around 4k lbs.

Is the main reason 4l80 not popular is cross bracing / custom tunnel mods ?

Just exploring options as i may have the chance to pick up a 03 cateye for the drivetrain.

The real question is why is an 8.1L/4L80E swap not more common. It is a much better truck engine than an absolutely gutless 6.0L or 5.3L. An 8.1L is on par with a 6.0L as for fuel mileage and has another ~200 ft/lbs of torque down at 2,000 rpm where you spend 95% of your time driving at.

Even more rare than a 6.0.

On paper, maybe. I keep hearing that the older 5.7 Vortec will out-pull a 5.3L.

More rare, more money.

More rare, more money. I've been looking for a suitable unit for years.
