98 vortec 5.7 idle??

What should the idle be on a 98 5.7?

cold start mine is at a grand even... once warmed up about 550-600.

stock L31 idle speed is commanded at 550rpm while at temp and in gear, and 625rpm while at temp in P/N....different ECT temps will command different idle speeds as well.

whoa, I just found somthing strange here....on the 411 PCM stock L31 tune, the idle speeds are commanded as I listed above.....

but looking at a stock L31 blackbox PCM tune for a L31, the speeds are switched....so it's 625rpm in gear at temp, and 550rpm in P/N at temp.....kinda strange IMO...

Yeah that just seemed really low to me.

you may need to change it for a different cam or something, my ZZ4 prefers ~800RPM idle.

Yeah I had an rv cam installed in the engine I just put in and me and my moms boyfriend who is a retired auto mechanic bumped it up to about 750 and it seems to do alot better there doesn't try to die out and doesn't have the died spot it did before when you first go to take off.
