I wouldn't have said that. There might be nothing wrong with the camshaft. The lifter leakdown rate might be too high, though. Even that isn't guaranteed.

"Stock" would be Genuine GM parts; which could mean "bought from the Chevy parts department" or purchased from an AC-Delco or maybe a Delphi retailer, if you select the "OEM quality" line of parts.
