I need to replace the pitman arm, but there isn't room to get the puller in there, even if I take the sway bar off, the end you are supposed to screw in to pull the pitman off the splines won't clear the frame since the frame is only a couple inches below the pitman arm.

Do you have to pull the gearbox off the frame?

Hahaha nice. yeah i just replaced mine today! pull the gear box off the frame and ratchet strap it to the rafters in your garage or unbolt the rod that connects it to the steering wheel.

I just unbolted it from the steering shaft, pulled the 3 bolts and turned it so I could get the puller between the cross member and engine. wasn't difficult at all

I just unbolt the box from the frame and rotate it enough to get my puller on. I have a snap on puller that doesn't take up much room.
