6.5 diesel oil pump question

Does anyone weld the pick up to the pump like with the big block chevys? Is it needed in the diesel motors?

With my level of paranoia i always positively affix a oil pickup, usually with a bracket. While I have never heard of it ever being a problem, does not mean the issue could occur, but IMO I wouldn't worry about it.
