4L60E trouble HELP

Can you still drive the 4L60E with a broken parking pawl/pin?
IF you can drive it after its been broke will it cause further damage to the transmission resulting in losing gears or total failure?

I guess the big question here is whether when the parking pawl and/or pin broke, did the broken parts damage any other part of the trans. And, is there some metal crap that somehow got into other sensitive areas of the trans. If you are comfortable with these questions, and like Justin says, have a good e-brake, I can't see how you could not drive the truck.
