So I have been a gmt400 97k1500 extended cab owner and driver for 5 plus years now. I’ve loved every minute of it even though some of those minutes have been very painful.
the story goes a customer of ours at work when I was working in the auto mechanics field a few years back, had slammed his 2004 GMC Sierra 2500hd into a cement median in the snow all buy himself. The truck got towed in and long story short went up for sale due to money issues on the customers end.
I bought the truck with a western plow for 2 grand. It was a gas 4x4 2500hd with around 150k on the clock with a smashed up nose and a bit of a bent front frame rail. well I ended up selling the plow on Craigslist for $1700 and now had myself a monster of a gmt800 project for $300 that ran decent to boot.
instead of getting the frame straightened out from a body shop I searched and found a clean straight frame and started the wrenches turning and the result is beast of a truck that’s basically brand new with no car payments.
