Hi I'm new member to the forum and i have a question will a gauge cluster from a 1996-1998 work in my 1995? Or is the hook up different after the change from the TBI or the Vortex in 1996?

The tachometer for a 1995 goes to 5,000-rpm and shows a redline bar beginning at 4,000. For 1996-98, it shows up to 6k.

I vaguely remember reading that the connector is different for 95 versus 96, not sure though. Best bet is to replace it with another 1995 cluster. The odometer is easy to swap to the new cluster, by the way.

Its completely plug and play, I have a cluster from a 2000 Escalade in my 95. 100% functional, even the tach.

However the tach is dependent on whether the motor is V6, V8 or diesel. Make sure you get one from a truck that matches yours.

Glad you posted this, I had an escalade cluster for my 95 but I read somewhere that it wouldn't work so I put the stock one back in it. Went and changed it out for the escalade one after reading this.

Yeah, IIRC last time I looked at the wiring diagrams, everything cluster-related was wired in the same manner, except for the speedometer. 96+ got it's signal from the PCM while 95 gets it from the VSSB. Still works fine though.
