I scooped up a set of front calipers off of a 99 1 ton truck at the junk yard yesterday but I am wondering if these are the ones with the bigger piston. I compared them to the ones on a 98 tahoe and they looked exactly the same. Are there anyways to positively identify these are the right calipers for the brake upgrade?

Also I read here on the forum that the 454ss trucks use 1 ton calipers as well can any of the 454ss owners confirm that? I compared the part numbers for a 93 1 ton and a 93 454ss on rockauto, autozone, oriellys, advance auto, and napa they both have different part numbers. I would like to use the 454 caliper if I could since the run about half the price of 1 ton calipers.

These are what I scooped up yesterday.

I have seen both listed. When I check all the part applications they all fit with each other 1500/25/35. IDK lol.

454ss owner here. I'm certain they are 2wd 2500 (6 lug) series calipers. I think it uses different pads than my 1996 4wd K2500 (8 lug).

The pads I have on my 454SS now are from this box...

I decided to look on RockAuto to determine if this is true or not. It shows the D369 series pads on a 1996 K2500 6 lug. It shows D370 series pads on an 8 lug truck. One thing I do see for a 1990 truck with D369 series pads it would be an Ext cab or RPO F44 suspension package (F44 possibly 454SS package?). Some of the brands list 454SS and some do not. I know 454SS uses different pads than regular 1/2 ton (D368 series pads).

For the upgrade you want to use calipers from a 8 lug 2500 or a 3500 they are the same.

A 1500 an a 6 lug 2500 use the same calipers as well. All this is spelled out in the sticky, but im not sure about the 93 model year stuff. I do know this applies to later ones as I've actually looked up the part numbers for all four models in the 98 model year...

Those 99 calipers are definitely the big piston ones unless someone pot the wrong ones on there. Its impossible to tell from that picture though
