When this happened on my Suburban it was always the side posts on the battery coming loose. When Optimas go bad it's not intermittent.

One of mine was. I had a yellow top that had an internal connection issue of some sort and would refuse to start my red truck about 50% of the time. Resting voltage always looked OK, when you applied a load it would plummet. New Odyssey battery fixed it.

Update: installed A/C Delco coil and ICM at the same time and she’s running about perfectly. Started up easily and warmed up super smoothly idling steadily without any help at about 700 rpm. Sorry I didn’t isolate the coil but it wasn’t worth it to me. FWIW my money is on the ICM just because the one I took out was an inexpensive aftermarket version.

Thanks for taking the time to point a noob in the right direction!
