    Boxing(doubling) the rear frame on my SAS'd 1997 K1500

I use Dupont(Axalta) products. Nason Ful-Poxy primer and industrial Imron top coat. Imron is amazing stuff, but I would have a professional do the spraying. It's chock full of isocyanate. It will have long lasting affects on your body if you don't have the proper protective equipment to...

    Boxing(doubling) the rear frame on my SAS'd 1997 K1500

That is absolutely true, you should avoid welding there. In this case, I hatched this plan because I didn't like the idea of conventionally "plating" the frame in that area. I honestly think that you could easily do more harm than good that way. You always introduce a potential cracking spot...

    Boxing(doubling) the rear frame on my SAS'd 1997 K1500

Honestly, because I ran out of donor frame. I stewed on it quite a bit, and came to the conclusion that A) leaving the factory transmission crossmember unmodified would simplify a few things, and B) I am primarily worried about the strength of the frame directly behind the cab. This is where...

    Boxing(doubling) the rear frame on my SAS'd 1997 K1500

Thanks! It's just a SKY's bracket kit up front, along with their shackle flip deal out back. I am running a set of 1976 Ford F250 highboy 3 inch wide leaf springs up front, just because I had them laying around. It is just a single shock setup.

    Boxing(doubling) the rear frame on my SAS'd 1997 K1500

The second I cut the front suspension off of my truck it became illegal to operate on public roads in this state. I dispatch a fleet of commercial motor vehicles, and I am acutely aware of the laws governing such things. I appreciate your concern, but I chose to do this to make my truck...

    Boxing(doubling) the rear frame on my SAS'd 1997 K1500

This is the 1993 grandpa fresh light duty 2500 that I bought for the NV4500. Donor NP241 apart and cleaned, awaiting bearings and seals from the local chevy dealer. NV4500 awaiting arrival of rebuild kit from Riverside Gear in Michigan. Going back together. T-Case...

    Boxing(doubling) the rear frame on my SAS'd 1997 K1500

I'm not sure if this belongs here or or in the towing section. I have a half ton that I sas'd awhile ago. I use it to pull my pulling truck around during the summer months. I figured at some point the 28 foot gooseneck would break the truck in half, and I also wanted to add some shock hoops...

    Towing with 35s

4:56's with 35's is a close approximation of 3:73's with the factory 265 rubber. I tow my pull truck all over the place with 4:56's and 35 inch BFG's in the summer. The 4L60E will live just fine if you understand how automatic transmissions function and what wears them out. Part of that of...

    L31 Vortec Lazy Timing...Sometimes

I've been dealing with this issue for more than a couple years now. My 1997 k1500 silverado is occasionally gutless, but not always, and to varying degrees. I have an Innovate LM2 that is capable of displaying sensor readings in real time. When the motor is running decent, the advance at WOT is...

    What have you towed lately

Hauled a chasis cab dana 80 home a few weeks ago. Hauled my old ford around on my new trailer.

    sas minimum lift

I wanted my truck to be as low as possible, but it ended up fairly tall anyway. I was more set on the tire size than anything else, and it clears the tires just fine at the height it's at. I used the Sky's short bracket kit up front, and their shackle flip out back. Stock 1977 F250...
