    When you say 'really cold', what do you mean? 60*? 20*? -20*? When was the last time you changed your oil? What weight of oil are you using? What does your oil pressure gauge read on startup? @ 60mph? At idle fully warmed up?

    Get a timing light and double check your timing. If the timing mark appears to 'jump' under the timing light, you may have a worn timing chain, a worn gear on the distributor, or a faulty cam position sensor. Further testing will be able to confirm. What does a vacuum gauge show at idle?

    New distributor comes with new distributor gear. You are likely one tooth off on the install. Re-stab the distributor and you should be golden.
