    Best oil pump manufacturers

The engine in my 94 was original, windage tray was fine. The junkyard engine I wound up putting in it with 162,000 miles and was original to the truck, was fine. The 99 Denali, 96 Tahoe and 96 Silverado I owned all had the original engines and I never had an issue with a windage tray. Maybe you...

    NP246 stays in 4hi and won't disengage

Hey guys I've got an interesting problem with my Suburban. 1998 GMC K2500 Suburban, 454, 4L80E, NP246 auto 4wd transfer case. Ever since I bought the truck and used the 4x4 in the snow here in SE Idaho it's done this. What happens is if you leave the truck in 2wd, then go to 4hi and drive for...

Is a Quick Ratio Box Right For Me?

Pretty close to what I got. Mine is stock in the back with cranked keys in the front. I didn't crank them all the way but enough for a gangster lean I guess. Not much, maybe 2.5" if that. I'll go for it. If I rollover I'll blame the GMT400 group. Thanks guys!

    Best oil pump manufacturers

Really? On my 94 I never had an issue with it or any 96+ Vortec engine.

    Best oil pump manufacturers

If it's a pre 94 truck, I'd highly recommend adding in a windage tray. As far as I know it's a bolt in swap, but when it comes to oil pumps I've never had an issue out of melling. I had a high volume one in a motor where the head gasket blew and contaminated the oil with coolant and even after...

Is a Quick Ratio Box Right For Me?

I'd figure out how to rebuild it myself before I trust another reman or rebuilt part. When I worked at autozone my manager would always get pissed off when I'd say rebuilt and not re-manufactured. Got a lot of people to buy 100% new parts that way. Personally I think the quality of reman stuff...

Is a Quick Ratio Box Right For Me?

But then I can't go drift in the snow like an idiot! I guess I'll probably get the Borgeson one. Rockauto has always been dicey imo when it comes to buying stuff from them and I try to avoid them if it's possible. What size tires and lift are you running?

Is a Quick Ratio Box Right For Me?

I never touched the steering box on this Yukon. I'm pretty sure it's even the original possibly. It sat in a field for 4 years before I bought it and fixed the blown up rear end.

Is a Quick Ratio Box Right For Me?

Honest to God I don't really mind what brand it is as long as it'll last and not have any slop or leak. I just said the cardone because it was cheapest on the website.

Is a Quick Ratio Box Right For Me?

Gotcha! My truck isn't really that lifted imo. I cranked the keys in the front to level it out but that was really it. It doesn't have a 6" lift or anything crazy.

Is a Quick Ratio Box Right For Me?

The Lares and Cardone are both "New" boxes according to rockauto as well as all the ones I listed off a couple posts ago. I don't run anything remanufactured if I can avoid it. Had too many issues out of reman stuff in the past.

Is a Quick Ratio Box Right For Me?

That was one I was considering, but its the 12.7 quick ratio.

Is a Quick Ratio Box Right For Me?

Yes, the Cardone 977540GB. My other options are Lares, AAE, or Edelmann. None of my local parts stores carry new steering boxes for that truck that aren't upwards of $700.

    Water getting in, HELP

More than likely you could have rust behind the top of the windshield that's allowing water to flood in by the windshield seal on the top. If the windshield has ever been replaced they take their razor blades and gouge the metal up. Then the scratch marks get rust and then from there it rusts...

Is a Quick Ratio Box Right For Me?

Yeah, in the research I did I found the stock box was 3/3.5 turns, and the quick ratio is only 1/2 turn less. So I'll just go with a stock replacement from RockAuto.

Is a Quick Ratio Box Right For Me?

My box is leaking and I’m replacing the whole front end once it thaws out here in Idaho. I would send it off and have it resealed but I’m unsure of the condition on the inside.

Is a Quick Ratio Box Right For Me?

Hi all, I need some opinions or insight on this. 1999 GMC Yukon Denali, has 275/55r20 tires and 20" 07-13 Tahoe LTZ rims. My steering box is looser than the girl I talked to when I was in high school and I'm unsure of whether or not to swap to a quick ratio box. I was going to go with a Cardone...

94 blazer vs 94 Silverado door differences

Unfortunately I would’ve reused mine except they hit it hard enough it messed up the window track, when I tried to put my window down it went crooked and now is stuck down,I tried wrangling it and got the window back up but the track is completely messed up. When I get it pulled off the truck...

94 blazer vs 94 Silverado door differences

Hi all, I have a 1994 Silverado, awhile back I was involved in a hit and run accident which left a nice dent in the side of my driver’s door. I found a 94 full size blazer in the same color and was curious if there were any differences in terms of wiring, trim or anything like that between the...

I don't know, I haven't tried that yet. I will try that soon.

    Two tone paint combos?

My 91 before it got totaled had a beautiful two tone blue with a blue and black pinstripe. It got sold at auction almost a year ago and supposedly has a rebuilt title and a new owner now. If anyone on here as any expertise in tracking down a vehicle’s owner, please let me know. I have the owners...

How a great deal on a throttle body spacer can destroy an engine.

The only thing they gave me was a receipt for when I paid for it. I will keep an eye on blowby and any issues that come up (hopefully none).

    plugging this port on headers

I think that is the heat riser tube for the air cleaner if you were running a closed element style air cleaner.
