    Back again, engine cutting out

The injectors are firing when it starts cutting out, as far as spark goes I haven't put anything inline on one of the wires to see if it stops firing. I know when I was checking the timing I could hear the distributor firing.

    Back again, engine cutting out

Plugs are new but the wires are not. I didn't think they would cause it to do tht.

    Back again, engine cutting out

Fuel pressure is good. You can run the truck around for a little while and it runs fine. Then all of a sudden it will start to cut out and then die. If you let it sit for an hour it will fire up and run fine for a little while again. I am at a total loss as it doesn't throw a check engine light...

    Back again, engine cutting out

Hey guys I've got a 92 Ext. Cab GMC 5.7 TBI. A few months ago it quit on me adn it ended up being the distributor was the problem. Anyway while working on it I replaced the distributor, coil, ecu and the truck ran great. The problem I have now is really driving me up the wall. When the truck...

Any pics of Rough Country 2 wheel drive lift

If I lift it I definitely want to go the pre runner look. I've got a buddy that can fab the tube bumper gaurd and skid plate for me if I go that route. Probably run no more 31-33" tires so I can use the truck to pul my car.

Any pics of Rough Country 2 wheel drive lift

I'm trying to decide what to do with my 92 ext. cab. I've been looking into the Rough Country 4" kit but hoped to see what it looks like on an actual truck. If anyone has any pics I would greatly appreciate it.

    92 5.7 ran great, now won't start!

I know, but I've never had anything lifted and kind of like the pre-runner look. If it gets dropped it will be moderate so it can still haul my track car. I have built several mini trucks in the past so it may just end up dropped in the end. LOL.

    92 5.7 ran great, now won't start!

I've been meaning to get back on here but have super busy. Pulled the distributor and tore it apart to check the pick up coil and found the problem. The reluctor wheels and everything around it, including the pick up coil were rusted beyond belief. The wires also coming out of the pick up coil...

    92 5.7 ran great, now won't start!

We pulled the distributor and checked it completely out including the pickup coil, everything tested good. Then reinstalled it in the correct position. Still no spark and the injectors are not firing. Fuel pressure is good, ignition module's good, coil's good and have checked the relays, fuses...

    92 5.7 ran great, now won't start!

Well I picked up the new ECM today and installed it and it still won't start. Cranks but still won't fire. I'm about ready to roll it out of the garage and set fire to the damn thing!

    92 5.7 ran great, now won't start!

Mihela, do you mean the pink wire connecting to the coil? If so it shows 12 volts to the coil. If that's not it let me know where I need to look. Once again thank you everyone for your help. This is the best response I've ever received on a forum before.

    92 5.7 ran great, now won't start!

Thanks guys, I'm going to call around tomorrow and see if I can find one cheap to try. A towing company in town has a 90 they got during the cash for clunkers deal. Will that ecm work if it's a 5.7 too? OReilly's lists a new one for less than $100 which I don't mind spending if that is it for...

    92 5.7 ran great, now won't start!

Well I've checked all the fusible links, checked the wires to the coil and ignition module. Can't find any issues with any of that and now it's quit firing the injectors when you crank it over. I think it might be the ecm but of course there's no way to test those, I did disconnect the battery...

    92 5.7 ran great, now won't start!

I'm still checking wiring guys, have a feeling this is gonna take a little while. I did get a hell of a deal on the truck. If this works here's a pic of the truck after a quick wash when I got it home. [/IMG] [/IMG] After a good scrubbing to get the tree sap off and changed out the mirrors for...

    92 5.7 ran great, now won't start!

I will check those out tomorrow. I did have the guy at OReilly's test the new module before I left the store just to be sure. When I cleaned the interior of the truck after I got it I didn't see any signs of any animals having been inside. I did replace the blower motor for the fan since it was...

    92 5.7 ran great, now won't start!

Pulled the coil wire off of the cap and did the screwdriver method to check for spark and I didn't see anything. We used an ohmmeter to double check the coil to make sure it wasn't bad and it tested good. Was wondering if the ecm might be bad or something that's not telling the coil to fire?

    92 5.7 ran great, now won't start!

I've got fuel pressure, no spark though. Have checked all fuses, relays and checked power at coil and distributor. Everything checks good. Hit the key and she cranks over normally, not slow like possible battery or cable prob. I've got a Haynes manual and have checked everything suggested but...

    92 5.7 ran great, now won't start!

Hello one and all. A while back I picked up this 92 GMC 1/2t ext. cab as a project. The truck had been parked for about two years due to a leaking trans but the $500 price tag I couldn't pass up since the truck was so clean. Anyway I put a new trans in the truck and a new battery in it along...
