    Rebuild front end?

    Just don't use a multi purpose grease. I don't know the grease specs in the USA but here in Canada they are allowed up to 2% by VOLUME of foreign matter. That could be anything from dirt to metal shavings. An extreme pressure grease isn't allowed to have that... here anyways. Just a thought.

    Would it be straight swap or would I need extra pieces. I ask as my cousin has a rolled 1997 k2500 GMC SLE with big v-8 , lots of good parts. I have the 1997 k1500 GMC sle with 5.7 and the ball joints are shot. Might be quicker (easier) fix?

    1997 k1500 rear diff magnet questions

    I'm sure, at this point that it is a piece of the magnet as it is very rough where it doesn't make the circle. I didn't find enough cuttings OR pieces that would make up the difference. What has me freaked out is WHY it's broke. Something had to move, either the magnet or the carrier.

    Driver's Front Clunk Noise at Low Speed - Help!

    I've seen a wheel bearing that had no play but was completely gone. Never squealed or squeeked but fell apart into pieces when I opened it up. I was going to say ball joints but sounds like you've eliminated that.

    Where is it supposed to be and what shape is it? Dropped the oil today in my rear diff. Magnet was on bottom under carrier and was a "C" shape. Found one jagged piece on magnet that I couldn't tell where it was from. Is the magnet supposed to b a circle?

    Yes, I wondered if the white substance on the shaft wasn't the aluminum corroding/oxidizing. Or glue. Had a Mack back in the day with an aluminum frame. Seen what oxidisation could do.
