88 Chevy , 700r4 , 90000 miles , fluid is up , does not smell with good color . Out of the blue , it started shifting funny , slow to go into gear , very slow to upshift , sometimes shifts really hard , Tried to shift manually , does not make a difference . Anyone with a remedy , or could a fluid change with new filter work ? Additives ?

Thanks , Bob

I've seen quicker engagement into gear with a filter change, could definitely help especially if it's not slipping. A full flush is always best though.

Vacuum leak? Kinda sounds like the adaptive shifting doesn't know what to do.

Check out the TV cable.

TO adjust the tv cable:

All while that car is NOT running...

1. Find the tv cable and push in the silver button on the side of it and hold it in.
2. Push the black slider part in (the part that the cable itself comes out of) push it in toward the button you are holding.
3. Release the button, and go inside the car and floor the gas pedal. You should hear it click a few times as it is "ratcheting out".

NOTE" Make sure the cable is not adjusted all the way out, and make sure there is no slack on the cable. It must be tight. If the cable is sticking out or adjusted out too far, the cable is sticking.

HEY everybody , looking over everything , I fixed it , pulled the pan , broke 5 of the bolts ,fixed them , put in new filter , new oil . Shifts fine now . Also pulled governor , nothing wrong there .
Amazing that a simple thing like that fixed it .

Thanks to all that replied . I also checked the TV cable , it's OK
