My father recently gave me his 1992 C1500 that he bought new in August of 1991. It was his daily for many years, so it has a lot of miles and has seen better days. About 295k on the truck with a new motor put in around 80k miles ago. Motor is the V6 and because he lives in California he said they told him he could not swap to the V8, when he replaced it? Not so sure about that, but I live in Texas so I can do what I want either way.

The truck is a Cheyenne and it is pretty much stock outside of some rusty chrome wheels that were installed in 94 or 95.

So the truck sat for about 4-5yrs with my Dad starting it on once a month and maybe driving it around the block or to the gas station (never putting more than 1-2 gallons in it). Once I decided to bring it to Texas I did routine maintenance got some decent used tires and drove it home. No problems on the trip at all.

Since I have had it home I have done the following:
Replaced AC system everything except the evaporator (it is very cold now).
New Alternator
New Windshield Wiper Motor
Replaced cracked dash with an excellent one from junkyard
Replaced headliner

Things I am doing this weekend:
Distributor
Fuel pump/pickup/strainer
Temp sensor
Coil

Near term:
I have a set of buckets and center console that I am cleaning up/covering.
Aux input mod/remove tape deck
Install aluminum wheels with new tires (I have a stock set)
Try to get some sort of shine from the paint.

Long term:
350 swap
Paint
Carpet

it's unfortunate how the Texas heat beats down our interiors. my dash is so brittle: if you just look at it, it makes cracking sounds. have some gray speaker carpet trimmed and adhered to it. looks ghetto but better than it did.
