What are the frame differences for a long bed from a short bed? Couple mods for the bed mounting points and they are interchangeable or is it a whole bunch of work? Not sure if the axle is moved farther back or not.

They would swap, but quite a bit of work. Any reason why?

Usually the factory will use a chassis for more than one set up. For example a RCLB and ECSB are the same chassis. A ECLB and CCSB I believe are also the same chassis. Body mounting holes for both are usually present in every chassis. I think even the Surburban are the same as ECSB and RCLB. You need to check for wheel base length mostly. HTH.

Excuse, let me actually confirm something. Are you wanting to just add a 8' bed to your current chassis? It would be TOO MUCH work in my opinion. You'd need to extend the chassis with C channel. You'd be better off swapping whole chassis and then my previous reply would make sense. See you!

Or just buy the truck you want. I have done plenty of frame swaps on wrecked late model trucks but unless you are working on rust free trucks it is no fun on something 20 years old.

As I recall he has a 4wd that he wants to turn into a 2wd. The truck has sentimental value. When I was looking for a chassis donor for my wife's ccsb I did a fair amount of research and the lb frames aren't too difficult from what I could see. Several people have done it. Yes you do have to cut loose the entire rear suspension and move it forward.

The frames are all different, ecsb frames are different from a rclb. Extended cabs have 6 cab mounts while regular cabs have 4. While they may be similar in overall lengths, the extra chunks in the frames are in different locations
