cant find messages

when I view my profile there is a box which states I have a certain amount of messages yet when I click on inbox it states it's empty. Am I looking in the wrong place? Yesterday I had 36 messages supposedly, and now today after starting a thread yesterday I have a anther totaling 37 so evidently some of these are recent. I'm not a regularly contributing member to this forum and I'm not sure about all the functions but I think getting messages should be easier than this. I noticed the format has changed recently as well. It looked a lot different before and honestly functioned quicker as well.

Any help is appreciated

Hover your mouse over your username in the upper right corner, out of the drop down box that will display, select "Conversations".

I went to conversations and it's empty. I'm looking at this page and under my avatar it displays "Messages:38", which is one more since last time. But then I look at Jkeaton's and it's over a thousand, so I'm gonna assume this number I've been looking at is total messages received since sign-up and not necessarily an indication of messages waiting for me somewhere with baited breath, lol. I'm not sure why that would be something everyone needs to see but whatever.

"Messages" are how many posts you've... well... posted...

Oh. Yes. Messages is how many times you have posted on the site. I thought you meant like private messages, which are now called conversations, between you and another member.

So, every time you post, it increments up one. Gives you an idea of who has been on here a long time and contributes a lot. "Senior members". Lol
