Helping cousin on 98 C1500 with 300,000 miles. Tach isn't working and only has 3rd gear(auto), can manually shift 1st to 3rd only! Replaced a broken ground going from passenger side frame to passenger side of cab and drove the truck all day yesterday thinking it was fixed(turning it off and starting it back several times). Last nite it started the same thing again.
The ground going from the frame to the engine/transmission is intact, but oil covered/saturated. Could that be the issue? Or are we looking up the wrong tree?
