Hey Guys,

I don't want to go through the hassle of installing a double din, so I was wondering what single din install kit do I get to change the stock CD receptacle to a cubby and a clean install on the head unit? I plan to get a single din with a motorized 6.5/7" screen. This is for a 99 suburban - the head unit I am looking for will hopefully have built in GPS (but I could live without if necessary). Any audio setup advice is also very welcome; like a under seat sub box for the burb (can't find any online).

Thanks,

Well believe it or not old 400s if they didnt have the cd player they would actually have a cubby. So you can just look online for them. But any old single dash install will work, mines from walmart. But my flip out headunit actually sticks out a tad too. Lastly the under the seat sub wont sound nearly as good as a regular one with a ported box.

The reason I opt for an under the seat is truck utility. I need to be able to remove my 3rd row and it not be an issue with the sub. Maybe I can find one that I can mount to the side (Where the spare wheel is, or to that fashion)?? Guessing I may have to find someone to do a custom enclosure for me. How far does your HU stick out? I don't need competition sound quality, just good clean sound, and some bass that is enjoyable for all passengers (the family).

Thanks,

This is the receiver kit you'll want http://www.crutchfield.com/p_120993002/Metra-99-3002-In-dash-Receiver-Kit.html?tp=3121 If you order your stereo from Crutchfield, this kit will come with it for free (if it's more than $120).

And you can get the OEM felt lined CD delete pockets at the dealer or an aftermarket one here http://www.crutchfield.com/p_1208803302/Metra-88-00-3302-Replacement-Pocket.html?tp=3121

the dash kit is the same from 1995-2002

the newer style ones stick out and are pure ugly, try to find the flush mount older style.
