My 1994 Yukon had it's original 4l60e transmission rebuilt roughly 2 years ago with high stall convertor and a shift kit. Currently has 15k on the rebuild. I'm unaware of the specifics as it was redone by the previous owner. All I have is the shop ticket which is unfortunately unspecific.

I've found that when rolling to a stop, I'll often get a little "clunk" as the truck shifts down from 2nd into 1st. Not everytime, but sometimes, especially if I'm coming to a sudden stop.

I don't get noise when shifting up.

The 12 bolt rear end is original and has a tiny bit of play, as is normal for the age. Just had the fluid replaced and was resealed. Not abused, just used. All u-joints are new and I just greased them ~1 month ago.

Is this normal for a transmission equipped with a shift kit?

GM never put a 12 bolt in these. Should be a 10 or 14 bolt.

And no, what you're describing doesn't sound normal.

Oops. It is a 10 bolt.

I ask because I've been getting mixed information. Told by some that it's a normal byproduct of the momentary torque reversal and others that it's unusual or a sign of wear elsewhere.

I had my last 4L60E built up substantially (before I blew it up just like the original) with billet servos, TransGo HD2, S10 converter, beast sunshell, etc. I never felt anything like what you're describing.

I'm not sure if its normal or not, but we had an 85 suburban with the 700r4 and it would do that when the transmission was left in D instead of OD. Nothing ever came of it though.
