I have a 1996 reg cab, long box, 4x4, automatic, 4.3. I picked up a 5-speed out of a 95, v8 truck. I'm trying to determine which drive shaft I need.

I'm pretty confused; I measured a friends driveshaft. He has a 1995, 4x4, 5-speed, 4.3, reg cab, long box. His driveshaft is the same length as my auto truck.

I don't have the measurements in front of me but my auto trans is at least 2" longer than the manual trans I picked up. How can the driveshaft be the same length. What am I missing?

Are you including the slip yoke when measuring? The slip yoke out of my 5 speed is an inch or two shorter than the yoke from my automatic.

That's good info. Never tried to swap them before, but that will keep from possibly wasting time later.
