    My truck in the sig will top out at about 80kph in 4lo. It gets there very fast. It held up to a 100km drive in 4low in the winter at about those speeds, I would think you would be ok.. until it breaks it would definately compensate for your gearing, you should be able to get the tires spinning...

    Yes, truck in the sig.. should have mentioned that. Cab is seperatly powered, I ran new/extra heavy guage ground wires and went over all the wiring I could get my hands on. no stalls yet (30kms)

    Dual Batteries

    Diesels came with dual batteries, wired in parallel with heavy guage wire for starting, many gassers have the tray for a second battery which makes it a very easy and popular upgrade. If there is just small wire running to/from it it may be just used for accessories.

    Today I'm dropping her off for rebuild. aprox 800 for a full rebuild (shift kit .ect as well) and 350 to drop and reinstall. hopefully then I dont have to worry about the tranmission going anymore.

    Thanks guys, i'm getting a price on having it pulled, rebuilt and installed. I could pull it myself but last time I tried (a friends 97 c1500) my friend nearly ate the whole transmission.. something i'm not willing to try again.. I'm sure there is probably a safe and proper way to go about it...

    Thanks guys, its been rebuilt once before I owned the truck, would there be any issues with rebuilding a second time? A guy i work with is parting out a 2000 with the 5.3l, is his 4l60e the same as mine?

    Yes, I drive it hard and I fully know the sort of consequences for doing that. I was just hoping to get a little more life out of it. If anyone has any helpful info I would appreciate it.

    So it happened again, but worse.. much worse.. Driving into work today I turned and gave it about 3/4 throttle, i let off the throttle to let it hit 3rd gear, it tried revving down and grabbing but it didn't, just slip, a little throttle and it would rev up, then nothing, the truck started...

    check your u-joints for any play. Is the noise coming from front or rear of truck? your front cv's are always spinning and usually make more noise when turning so I would rule them out. along with anything else from the diff beyond. are your tires severely wore on the back and new on the front...

    sounds like bad pads, steel on steel, you will probably need front pads and at least 1 rotor. Check the back brakes while your at it, make sure they are adjusted properly and that the adjuster is working and all springs are in good shape.
