I'm going from 2wd to 4wd (not 4 to 2). I've read that post several times but I still don't feel comfortable with my understanding of it. Seems like to get different years to work with different years, you have to swap out all sorts of internals and on and on. Let me re-word my original...

Can my cab be saved?

What are these seats?

Thanks for the info. If I strip them down and they are in good shape, where would I even go to find the right size foam/covers for them? I've never attempted any kind of upholstery so not sure where to even start.

Old Glory - new to me 95 RCSB

Finally got an OBS truck again. Yesterday got this for 1000 bucks. It needs a ton of work, but has some good potential. I'm planning on this being my first "frame off" type restoration. Not sure if I'll strip the ENTIRE truck, or try and do bits and pieces at a time so I can drive it here...

Well I pulled the trigger. Got it for 13,000 out the door. Now gotta get the 96 sold to help recoup the cost!

Wow some good replies. I was talking it over with my wife and we are at a stand-still on what to do. We are 50/50 on fixing it, leaving it and just watch the oil level as needed, and selling it to buy a newer truck. I stopped and looked at an '06 today but it had more frame rust than my 96...

oil leak questions

Can't upload a pic until tomorrow... but I have a leak. Shop said I have an oil pan leak. I looked at it today and it's leaking at the front where the cover (timing chain?) meets the pan, right at the bottom where they meet. Shop said 570 to fix. Is this hard to do yourself? My mechanic buddy...

Transmission leak again - 96 silverado

No the pan looked fine when I did it in May. I talked to the guy at Advanced Auto Parts today and he said he normally uses the rubber kind and sprays some kind of adhesive on it too. So I guess assuming I don't see the leak coming from anywhere else I might try that.
