    98 K3500 454 gooseneck capacity

Wow. Imagine what this site could be if everyone were nice to one another. Again, thank you to everyone who provided me with the information I asked for. It helped me to make the proper, safe decision. No thanks to the ones who used it as an opportunity to preach, argue and degrade.

    98 K3500 454 gooseneck capacity

It's all a moot point now. Too much weight. By a longshot. Going to sell the truck and buy a single axle day cab. Thanks to everyone who helped me and for all the information.

    98 K3500 454 gooseneck capacity

Sounds like I should get rid of it and get a single axle business class big truck. Any guesses as to what this dually might be worth with the trans issue factored in? It's an SLE. New dealer installed motor has about 11k miles on it.

    98 K3500 454 gooseneck capacity

Thanks. I've got a 15k lb dozer & a 25' dovetail all-steel 3-axle trailer, which I will probably take one axle off & use 2 8k axles. The truck and dozer alone put me over the listed GCWR. Think this truck would pull it ok short distances? I have two properties about 20 miles apart. I don't...

    98 K3500 454 gooseneck capacity

All the info I've been able to find is the truck can pull 10,000 pounds max conventionally. I haven't been able to get any information on the 5th wheel/gooseneck tow rating. It's a 98 K3500 extended cab dually with the 454 & 4L80E. Does anyone have this info or know where I can find it? Thanks

    4L80E problem, can't find answer

I've got a 98 K3500 that had no reverse. I rebuilt the trans and then when starting accelerating from a stop the truck felt like it was bogging down & had no power. It had the feeling like a parking brake being set, but it's something in the trans. I pulled the trans out and had it rebuilt again...

4l80e bogs in forward, fine in reverse after rebuild

Please ask your neighbor. I also think two gears are engaging at the same time but I'm not sure where to look to solve the problem.

EDIT: I did not disassemble the sprag so I know it is not in backwards.

4l80e bogs in forward, fine in reverse after rebuild

I have a 98 K3500 that lost the snap ring & tore up the transmission lugs which resulted in no reverse. I replaced it with a 2000 model 4l80e only changing the frictions, a few bushings and rear shaft since the 2000 came out of a 2wd. Now that I put it back in the truck reverse works...
