    Rear brakes locking

I had the same issue. I did not have an axle seal leak. I replaced drums, shoes, then wheel cylinders trying to get it to stop.it was greatly reduced after drum, hardware and shoe replacement, but still there. Few weeks later It was suggested I check the baking plate, so took it apart again and...

Cool, thanks for the reply. I'll just look for the lowest mileage.

14B Full float or semi float for economy?

I have a 96 k2500 with 350ci, 4l80e and SF 14bolt rear axle. 276,000 miles on vehicle. May be looking at an axle from a lower mileage 3/4 ton. I know the main differences between an SF, and FF. What I am not aware of is will a FF net worse mileage due to more unsprung weight? I have read...

    Good headlight options?

I installed the Spyder glass lenses mentioned by dfx4. The light output was 2-3x more compared to my hazed OE composite lenses umits. However, they would shake a little when driving. Looked like 2 motorcycles going down the road. I checked everything, even tried using the OE brackets...

    Ignition Switch Replacement?

Thanks, yea getting the door lock cylinders out is pretty easy, just not sure about the pins (whatever they're called) inside the lock and where to purchase the pins/tumblers.

    Ignition Switch Replacement?

Ironhead, no reviews I could find, lifetime warranty through A1 Auto. But would suck to have to use that warranty. PTIA to get to this thing, Thanks for the replies, I'll go to the boneyard and get one from later model GMT400. On a side note, Since I replaced the ignition cylinder lock, I now...

    Ignition Switch Replacement?

Ok, so I just saw an ignition switch from A1Auto for about $42. Clicked on site sponsors to check. Question is, it's not Delphi/AC Delco. Would this be okay? I know for many parts, like fuel pump, it's Strongly recommended to run Delphi/Delco. Tks Chris

    Occasional slow start

I can only dream of getting 20 mpg. I get 16.5 on the hwy at 65mph and 14.5 around town. Sounds like the fuel pump check valve is doing it's job holding pressure when EOKO.

    Ignition Switch Replacement?

I have a 96 K2500 with 260k miles. The fuel pump is starting to go I believe. Sometimes when hot, after a short drive, the truck wont start. If I turn the key to the on position for about 2 seconds, then do it a few more times the pump seems to prime and the truck starts right up. So I...

    Another Stupid Belt Question

No Joy. Squeak came back. Gonna look into changing some pulleys. Not sure which one to start with, though. Will look at each one closely this coming weekend to see if I can identify one that looks different from the rest. Hopefully it is one pulley causing the issues. Thanks for the guidance.

    Another Stupid Belt Question

Thanks All. I checked the alignment with a straight edge (as best I could anyway), watched the belt on each pulley to see if it was tracking true, and all looks good. So belt contamination likely suspect. Contamination Remedy Phase 1: I went down to the diy car wash and used the pressure...

    Another Stupid Belt Question

That makes sense. I'll check that. It has been a few weeks since I have looked for leaks under the hood. (Weather has been wicked cold, and lots of snow)

    Another Stupid Belt Question

I replace the serp belt and it is quiet for about 3 months before it starts to squeal again. It has new AC Delco pro tensioner and idler, new power steering pump, newer upgraded alternator (cs144 with appropriate belt) cleaned all pulleys with wire brush. I put a bar of soap on the belt edges...

What did you do to your street truck today?

Replaced rear drums and shoes. Installed larger wheel cylinder (designed for dually) much better braking. Old shoes were slick, hard as glass and severely cracked. Old drums had worn down so much I had to use the adjuster to bring the shoes in because of the groove to get the drums off. PITA...
