    92 C1500 V6 5spd knob

Hey gang. I have a '92 C1500 with the V6 and a 5 speed manual transmission. Could anyone advise as to whether or not the shift knob is removable ? It sort of looks like it's molded into the shaft. I was thinking of throwing on a Hurst knob or T grip. Is this possible ?

    4.3 exhaust modifications. . . .

Well , three hours on my back laying on cardboard above the snow with a (very dull) hacksaw and I made the first cut at the Y pipe. It looks like it's 2.5" diameter so I ran to Fleet Farm for a pipe and clamp until I get it welded. I took the clamps of after the cat to discover that . . . . ...

    The **GREAT** Valance Debate

Pardon the slight derailment, but Scott, I'm curious. What prep did you have to do on the plasti-chrome grille and the wheels before painting them ? My grille is starting to peel and the truck isn't worth buying new parts for, so I was thinking of rattle-canning the grille, and possibly the...

    Cheap 2 Door

Did anyone else notice that they have a facelifted grille on the first one ? That's not native for a 92'.

    4.3 exhaust modifications. . . .

Thanks for the replies, folks. MANY many years ago in my teens I had a Buick with a V6 and dinked around with the exhaust, and I wound up making it gutless as all hell. I was trying to NOT replicate that event. So just to clarify, the pipe I am replacing the cat with should be the same diameter...

    4.3 exhaust modifications. . . .

No one has any thoughts on this ? Nobody ? My Google-fu must be weak, because I have been fervently researching this to no avail. I'm just trying to figure out if I need a reducer or not. I also may be mistaken on the pipe diameters .

    4.3 exhaust modifications. . . .

Ok so, here goes. The truck is a 1992 4.3 V6 with a 5 speed manual. The exhaust that came with it when I bought it is as follows : Stock manifolds Stock Y pipe Stock ancient catalytic converter ( semi plugged up, can tell after an hour of highway driving ) From the cat, it branches to...

Maybe swap out the nozzle from another aerosol can would help ? I use either Fluid Film ( lanolin based )http://www.fluid-film.com or a product called Breakaway http://www.northwoodstm.com/store/pc/configurePrd.asp?idProduct=183 by Northwoods Superior Chemical Corporation. I usually use the...

Hah ! I am definitely still in the planning process, but it's been almost into the 40's all week . That's a heat wave for this winter, but I think it's been kicking everyone's a$$ this year.

That easy? For real? That sounds almost TOO gravy of a job! I bet those suckers are going to be nice and rusty (crusty?) after 22 years in Wisconsin !

IOWNJUNK, thanks for the reply ! I happen to have a few hammers laying around. My car mentor, a body man, repeatedly told me that any problem can be solved by using the proper hammer. So, I'm guessing, put it on jackstands and the rest is nuts and bolts? Do I need a spring compressor? I really...

because there's no section for "Street truck, stock ride height" suspension. I figured that lowered was closer to my application than 4x4 or off-road. If there is a sections for this, Moderator, please move it. That being said, I have a 92' Silverado C1500 extended cab shortbox truck. She...

    Howdy !

Any luck with that bulb, Brit? Nice truck, by the way. The pink accents go rather well with the teal base color.
