All you need to do is a fuel pressure regulator, HEI distributor, and a throttle position sensor.
The fuel regulator is very important and must have the return line hooked up as well. The pressure coming into the carb should be around 5.5-7 psi.
The factory distributor can't be used...
Ok i feel like a complete idiot... Found the problem. The dist. was 180 degrees off. And the battery was dead, but somehow still turning the engine over.
how to check if there is a code. I can't get the truck running, so i don't know if it is setting a code. When you turn the key, the CEL is naturally on unless the engine is running. The OBD1 (95 and earlier) doesn't have the same connector as the OBD2 systems.
Well I had spark for about 10 seconds. I unplugged the EST wire used for computer timing, turned it over, and it backfired, puffed out the TB. turned the key again, and it did the same thing. I adjusted the timing to see what it would do, and the spark stopped.
Is it possible that the computer...
I've checked the fuses and relays, and all the grounds in the engine bay. I haven't checked the ecm ground. If the ecm wasn't grounded properly, what could some of the symptoms be?
I've gone through the wiring harness and checked that everything is connected. If you unplug the 4 pin connector going into the ign. mod, would it still run? From my understanding, that just controls the computer's timing advance.
So I pulled the 350 out due to leaking intake gaskets. Decided to just replace all the gaskets due to having 250K miles. Did a rear main seal, head gasket job, oil pan gasket, basically regasketed everything. I put it all back together and back in the truck, turn the key, no start. turns over...
Possibly cutting a ring off the spring, then bending part over to make the thing that grabs the throttle. essentially shortening the spring making it lighter. i've been thinking about that since i got my truck. it's dangerous driving the '92 then getting into the '90 454SS with half the pedal...
Did any of yall have an issue come up of a rattle coming from the coil? I think it's the distributor transfering it's vibration through the coil, then through the firewall and through the dash. I have it mounted like Swims350 does, and my distributor is larger so the wires are all pressed together.
