Thermostat Education for 1998 k1500 Suburban
Ive seen it both ways...But, if all is working right, its normal for a gauge to go up to the point of Tstat open temp...say 195-200...then cools some, as the cooler water hits it...then warm back up. Ive got one truck that the gauge will move between 2 lines all the time..new radiator, hoses...- 454/4X4

Questions about swapping a 454 to a 350
200K on a 454 aint bad...lol. I had 251K on my 97 K3500 Dually, it had spent its life heavy hauling and was all original, and it didnt smoke, knock, use oil, or leak. Personally...Id find as low a miles 454 and drop it in, the power difference is amazing. Fuel consumption...is a bit more, but...- 454/4X4

Whats the Diff between STD Water pump and HD water pump?
My 97 K3500...pretty sure it has a chewed up WP impeller...im looking at new pumps and it says there was a STD duty pump, and a HD pump, but does not reference RPO codes or physical differences...anyone know what the difference was?- 454/4X4

Low oil pressure in my 94?
My 95 K1500 has a Crate 350 with all new sensors, senders, etc installed at time of swap...about 35K on it all, I get about 65psi on startup, and 30 idling in gear, 35-40 in park, hot... At around 3500 miles on the oil change, It will start to fluctuate both while driving and while...- 454/4X4

I have a spare idientical ECM that has proven to work perfectly on another truck, it made no difference. The eprom is an updated reflash of the original BIN file, the original eprom was faulted and would not allow it to idle down, I suspect someone had tried to custom tune it and messed it all...- 454/4X4

350 throttle body questions.
On a TBI engine, the 1" spacer allows more time and turbulence to better atomize the fuel. It also adds plenum volume, which helps torque. Too mcuh plenum volume...however, can have negative effects. 1" is tried and trued.....if more than that had an advantage, thats all we would see.- 454/4X4

Pros and cons on 6.5 diesel
My GM4 very readily and willingly spins up 14+ PSI...Ive got the TM turned way down because when I installed my gauge, it was burying the 15psi gauge and holding it "wrapped". I dont see the other issues folks seems to have, like overheating, its never gotten over 195*...even towing, in late...- 454/4X4

Pros and cons on 6.5 diesel
I bought my 1995 K2500 6.5 TD about 5 months ago, 126K miles, very well cared for mechanically, not perfect...but I paid 3500 for it, got it home...did the oil/filter, fuel filter, air filter, Lift pump wasnt working..so i put a new oPS on it, and did the relay mod so it will never need it ever...- 454/4X4

Ive had both covers off, inspected springs, rockers, bolts, and had the intake off..checked all the rods...all felt fine. compression test was good on all 8, less than 5% spread hi to low. Ive got a brand new one to put on but I cant reach the dang connector..it up in the freakin tunnel.- 454/4X4
