....... i know these Odysseys are top shelf.........
Odysseys are now made across the southern border. writing on the wall is quality went down south also. i wouldn't feel comfortable saying they were top shelf any more.
i've never used one myself so i'm only mentioning what i've read.

i generally have no issue with Interstate.....they do have some good products. i just went with what i'm most comfortable using as i know these Odysseys are top shelf.....and there's no doubt in my mind. i just took an Interstate out. i would have been happy to keep it, but it's died 3 times since i've owned the truck, there's not much reserve to this one.

i'm going to go check out the one you have.

This is the one I have: http://www.interstatebatteries.com/...a100-truck-1969-v8-5-2l?dsNav=N~21-2147384906
This is the one I'm looking at getting when the above fails: http://www.interstatebatteries.com/...s-mt7-78-mt7-78?dsNav=N~4256628373-2147384903

Uh... No. I think you're thinking of Optima, who were bought by Johnson Controls a few years ago and are now made in Mexico. Odyssey is made by Enersys, in Warrensburg, Missouri.

Optima = Overpriced junk

Odyssey = Pretty much the best AGM automotive battery on the market in the USA.

EDIT - Thought I already mentioned this somewhere in this thread, but I killed two Optima Yellow Tops in less than a year in my red truck. That's what prompted me to do the research and switch both of my trucks to Odysseys.

DOUBLE EDIT - FYI, Interstate Batteries are also made by Johnson Controls. Not saying they're a bad product for most folks, but considering the track record of my Optimas I certainly wouldn't put them anywhere near top shelf ranking.

you mentioned the yellow-tops in the other thread we had spoken on.....Optima's were absolutely the best when they showed up o the scene in 1987 or so...cutting edge technology for the time....and oh boy, expensive......i'm not sure when they sent manufacturing out of the states, but the quality took a major ****.....

as for the Interstate batteries, i don't know anymore.....perhaps the top-tier are made here but i didn't bother to check as i'm an Odyssey convert....have been for some time now.

the Interstate i took out of my truck tested good when i first got it, but it died 3 times since i've had it and apparently it's taking a full charge anymore. the reserve capacity must be compromised or something.....don't know, don't care......not going to hedge a bet it won't leave me stranded somewhere...

and when i do the duals i'll get another one just like Odyssey i have now.....it's a "starting" battery and and a "deep cycle" battery in one. the specs are quite impressive as is the warranty.

I love my odyssey. I've had mine about 8 years now.my truck sits all the time, maybe gets 2500 miles a year.
It fires up no problem. I won't buy another battery. I've had a yellow top and when the wife still had her 2 door Yukon had at least 3 red tops in it that lasted maybe 6 months each time.

itt seems that i hear more stories such as yours than i do positive reviews of the optimas.....it also seems that everytime a good quality American made product goes offshore to some **** country it all goes down hill.......of course it's not always the case, but more so than less.

With a shielded bi-xenon H4 HID
You must be registered for see images attach

EDIT: apparently i had posted a similar thought before.....it goes to show you how messed up my memory and brain cells(all 2 of em) actually are.......9 big surgeries and corresponding anesthesias will do that! sorry for the "double" post

looking back....that "cats eye" lookin bem is very similar to what i had hen the bulb was not seated and cocked to one side......i wonder if it's a similar thing going on with the semi-circle arc from the HID? the "filiment" is not where it's supposed to be in relation to the reflector......interesting.
