yo
Uh... No. I think you're thinking of Optima, who were bought by Johnson Controls a few years ago and are now made in Mexico. Odyssey is made by Enersys, in Warrensburg, Missouri.
Optima = Overpriced junk
Odyssey = Pretty much the best AGM automotive battery on the market in the USA.
EDIT - Thought I already mentioned this somewhere in this thread, but I killed two Optima Yellow Tops in less than a year in my red truck. That's what prompted me to do the research and switch both of my trucks to Odysseys.
DOUBLE EDIT - FYI, Interstate Batteries are also made by Johnson Controls. Not saying they're a bad product for most folks, but considering the track record of my Optimas I certainly wouldn't put them anywhere near top shelf ranking.
you mentioned the yellow-tops in the other thread we had spoken on.....Optima's were absolutely the best when they showed up o the scene in 1987 or so...cutting edge technology for the time....and oh boy, expensive......i'm not sure when they sent manufacturing out of the states, but the quality took a major ****.....
as for the Interstate batteries, i don't know anymore.....perhaps the top-tier are made here but i didn't bother to check as i'm an Odyssey convert....have been for some time now.
the Interstate i took out of my truck tested good when i first got it, but it died 3 times since i've had it and apparently it's taking a full charge anymore. the reserve capacity must be compromised or something.....don't know, don't care......not going to hedge a bet it won't leave me stranded somewhere...
and when i do the duals i'll get another one just like Odyssey i have now.....it's a "starting" battery and and a "deep cycle" battery in one. the specs are quite impressive as is the warranty.
