Newbie
Hey guys, my first post not problem related. This is my build thread for my 1999 K2500 Crew Cab.
This is the second picture I took of it, when i got home. The first one and all of the craigslist pictures were lost when i went from iPhone to android (worst decision ever). Had 80,*** on the 350 5.7 motor with 240,*** on auto transmission and body. Ran amazing and was so loud. Mostly stock except for Magnaflows, dumped below back seat and the motor.
One of my fathers buddys had a motorcycle slide under his truck while he was stopped and lit the motorcycle on fire and his truck. He got out and pulled the guy out from under the truck but the truck was burnt up.
He sold me the running boards and both front and rear Ranch Hand bumpers and I know what you're thinking, his truck was a cat eye, but for 500 bucks i couldn't say no. So with the bumpers and steps in the bed i went to a friends shop and we went to work. A full day worth of welding, eyeballing, and southern ingenuity we made it fit.
Voila! It looked better then i thought it would. the lights lined up with the grill guard holes and gave it a mean look.
The following Monday I brought it up to my school's Ag shop and my classmates and i started sanding. We sanded 3 or 4 of the days till the paint felt pretty smooth with the metal and went back to a neighbors shop the next weekend. Taped everything off using tarps, painters tape and all the copies of the thrifty nickle that the owners of the local mercantile would allow me to walk out with.
There it is when we primered it. We let it sit for two days till my father could stand no more of my nagging and we went down to the shop to finish the job.
I really wanted them maroon or color matched while my father thought black would look best, so we compromised and went with black. It turned out pretty well despite my thoughts. This was all done with rattle can and it turned out amazing. Still have all the paint a year and a half later. Really think the original owner helped out when he had it powder coated.
Went on and did all the typical highschooler upgrades with the Kenwood aftermarket radio and two ten inch kickers off a sound ordinance amp. (Side note: bought a box and two JBL 10 inch subs for 50 bucks and took the JBLs out and stuck the kickers in. The box was out of a 2013 F350 so I had to take the back seat out to place the box, then replace the seat but in the end i came out with a pretty hard to steal sound system.) Didn't do much for a while besides replace power door lock actuators. Then summer came and i got a pretty good summer job and saved up and bought head lights plus a little extra.
That's all I'm going to write tonight. Ill finish up the build thread tomorrow. Thanks for reading if anyone has already, before i post the rest.
