Hey guys. New to the fullsize world so I am asking for some help. Ive got a 1991 Chevy Silverado Reg Cab Shortbed with a TBI 350 and a 5 speed. Truck was originally a 305 TBI 5 speed. The truck takes off very rough,no power at all, horrible gas mileage, and when your past half throttle it smokes and the smoke comes up through the steering column. I really like the truck but I need to get it reliable seeing that I am starting school in the next month and its a 25 mile drive one way. Thanks so much guys.

well I guess for starters I would start inspecting all that wiring and its gonna suck cause there is a ton. If everything electrical checks out run a fuel pressure test maybe the tbi is getting or dumping to much fuel in flooding out the plugs etc making it run like crap........also with that fire it could had smoke the ecm. Has the truck been scanned yet?

could be a timing issue I would start buy having it scanned on a live data scanner and go from there

Yea, from the sounds of it, you are getting way to much fuel. Take the air breather off, and have someone start the truck and look at the spray pattern from the injectors. It should be a nice even fan shape.
