didn't intend for the loaded question. but this reply pretty much answers what I wanted to know thanksKinda loaded question, depends what you wanna do with it, how big a tire, etc. But IMO, 78/79 Ford Dana 44 high pinion for small-ish tires, or not hardcore wheeling. Same year Dana 60 for big tires and/or hardcore wheeling. But those years 60s go for insane amount of money. Can use a later year 60, but need to limit tire size to 38s, or the lugs will hit the springs at full lock. Could run spacers or crazy offset wheels. Also cheaper. These axles are driver drop so will match t-case output. Can use a Dodge or GM axle, but then need pass drop t-case, and they are tough to find with VSS. Also need to swap pass knuckle to a flat top (10 bolt or Dana 44) for use with crossover steering. Dana 60 easy to put crossover arm on.
also are there any springs you recommend for example take springs from a highboy or should I just get ord custom springsKinda loaded question, depends what you wanna do with it, how big a tire, etc. But IMO, 78/79 Ford Dana 44 high pinion for small-ish tires, or not hardcore wheeling. does any spring work or do i need springs designed for the front? If yah wanna spend over a grand for springs sure lol. I used junk yard 4” springs with good results, also used BDS. Tuff Country makes a good affordable spring.
I would assume that the ord springs are more flexible and ride a little bit better. I personally have used superlift 8 springs and it rode goodIf yah wanna spend over a grand for springs sure lol.
