Well crap google steered me wrong and now I’m sad.

Filled the tank in it on my way home from work as I’m not sure how accurate the gauge is. It seems to move around a lot and with how loud the fuel pump is, I’m assuming it’s some POS aftermarket pump setup. It was above a quarter tank and took 21 gallons and when I googled tank capacity I was...

Ahh good catch I guess we will see when it’s done, if it absolutely needs a PV then that’s what it will get but until it’s done and tested we won’t know

Ahh man, I ordered the bracket kit and was eyeing this super simple truss. Never done a truss on anything before. I know it’s totally unnecessary with how I plan to use this truck but I like weld projects.

I’m curious, the guys that do gmt800 hydroboost swaps in these trucks. Do they have any weird brake bias issues or and issues?

I already made my point clear by saying I’d vice grip the rear lines before fixing the drums :ROFLJest:

God bless removable warning light bulbs. This very well may be the final forum of the swap. Still gonna evaluate performance as I go.

Learning the hard way is always my favorite learning technique :anitoof: Interesting, I wonder what dash lights or other annoyances would appear if the factory ABS is removed.

Or maybe the ABS will do its job and proportion good enough. So boring! I’ve done many rear disk swaps and upgraded brakes in other things and never had an issue. I genuinely don’t think it’s gonna be a problem, but now that you mention it. I do have a P valve on a donor 800 truck in my...

With the swap of disks in the rear I will be converting to GMT800 hydroboost. If the bias is awful and the rear locks up like crazy I can always use a proportioning valve. Don’t think I’ll have issues tho, and I will test the crap out of it before I consider it good and put a load behind it.

I definitely don’t feel that it will need extra help leveling the rear, if it does it will get a custom spring pack from ORD or Deaver, or a different shackle setup. I like leveling bags for towing, but I don’t think this truck will need it. I have them in my Tahoe which has pretty soft lowering...

Found all my axle bits for the H2 axle, only need to buy outer wheel bearings which tbh it could probably survive with the ones in it, but if it’s getting a full rebuild might as well do all new. Axle guy is two weeks out, but said he likes doing the aam 9.5s so just $300 for labor. Put 100...

Think of the weight savings! :ROFLJest: I’m definitely not disagreeing the drums are probably the cheaper option. I’m just one of those idiots that can’t leave stuff alone.

Doing the axle swap is also a great time to paint the new axle, clean up stuff on the frame that’s hard to get to with an axle in its way, and replace all the rubber brake lines. I just love messing with axles for some dumb reason so I’m excited.

I shall definitely sell it, I’m glad I don't need anything off it so I can sell it as a complete unit. Any idea how much to ask? It’s not exactly a rare axle and being the semi floater I’d assume less desirable than its FF brother. I’m putting in OEM GMT800 2500 brakes, it’s what came factory...
