Well crap google steered me wrong and now I’m sad.

Filled the tank in it on my way home from work as I’m not sure how accurate the gauge is. It seems to move around a lot and with how loud the fuel pump is, I’m assuming it’s some POS aftermarket pump setup. It was above a quarter tank and took 21 gallons and when I googled tank capacity I was...

Ahh good catch I guess we will see when it’s done, if it absolutely needs a PV then that’s what it will get but until it’s done and tested we won’t know

Ahh man, I ordered the bracket kit and was eyeing this super simple truss. Never done a truss on anything before. I know it’s totally unnecessary with how I plan to use this truck but I like weld projects.

I’m curious, the guys that do gmt800 hydroboost swaps in these trucks. Do they have any weird brake bias issues or and issues?

I already made my point clear by saying I’d vice grip the rear lines before fixing the drums :ROFLJest:

God bless removable warning light bulbs. This very well may be the final forum of the swap. Still gonna evaluate performance as I go.

Learning the hard way is always my favorite learning technique :anitoof: Interesting, I wonder what dash lights or other annoyances would appear if the factory ABS is removed.

Or maybe the ABS will do its job and proportion good enough. So boring! I’ve done many rear disk swaps and upgraded brakes in other things and never had an issue. I genuinely don’t think it’s gonna be a problem, but now that you mention it. I do have a P valve on a donor 800 truck in my...

With the swap of disks in the rear I will be converting to GMT800 hydroboost. If the bias is awful and the rear locks up like crazy I can always use a proportioning valve. Don’t think I’ll have issues tho, and I will test the crap out of it before I consider it good and put a load behind it.

I definitely don’t feel that it will need extra help leveling the rear, if it does it will get a custom spring pack from ORD or Deaver, or a different shackle setup. I like leveling bags for towing, but I don’t think this truck will need it. I have them in my Tahoe which has pretty soft lowering...

Found all my axle bits for the H2 axle, only need to buy outer wheel bearings which tbh it could probably survive with the ones in it, but if it’s getting a full rebuild might as well do all new. Axle guy is two weeks out, but said he likes doing the aam 9.5s so just $300 for labor. Put 100...

Think of the weight savings! :ROFLJest: I’m definitely not disagreeing the drums are probably the cheaper option. I’m just one of those idiots that can’t leave stuff alone.

Doing the axle swap is also a great time to paint the new axle, clean up stuff on the frame that’s hard to get to with an axle in its way, and replace all the rubber brake lines. I just love messing with axles for some dumb reason so I’m excited.

I shall definitely sell it, I’m glad I don't need anything off it so I can sell it as a complete unit. Any idea how much to ask? It’s not exactly a rare axle and being the semi floater I’d assume less desirable than its FF brother. I’m putting in OEM GMT800 2500 brakes, it’s what came factory...

Plugs and wires done in less than an hour before work, these things are refreshingly easy to work on. Pretty sure the idle misfire is gone now, and it made it the couple mile drive to work.

Sorry but I refuse to support the longevity of drum brakes. I’ll vice grip the hoses before I work on them .

Put 40 miles on it so far! The rear drums are definitely leaking all the fluid out leaving the fronts to do all the work, but for now I’ll consider that a none issue. Eventually H2 axle swap it with Gmt800 brakes to fix that issue. The alignment is great up to 60 which is as fast as I’ve...

Not sure how I got this lucky but the truck is mine and registered! Met my aunt at the DMV to gift me the title and they asked if I wanted to register it right then and there. Whipped out my insurance app, slapped coverage on it and now it’s tagged and I’ve already put 20miles on it doing errands.

Interesting, all I was issued is a hard time lol. Any idea what they are called? I can’t seem to find them when searching for window mounts Huh, never imagined they had stuff with it already in it. Gonna have to look for this, I wonder if they make Crye G3s with it.

Finished nearly all the things I can on this truck for the time being except something for the driver side and extended cab window. Not sure what happened to this window but it looks like all the mounts are missing. Does anyone know where to get new ones? Here’s my deer fly coffee can goo...

Whoa this is neat! Are they really that good? Could I instead just out a few strips around my driveway on random things near where I stand? I bought some sticky gel goo the other day and painted a blue Maxwell house can with it because I read they like light blue. It’s caught a dozen or so but...

I got the driver spring in! Spent another 30 minutes this morning with zip ties and vice grips and finally got it in place. I found it works best to clamp down on the spring then run 2 zip ties on one side only of the spring, both ties basically on top of easy other so the spring is almost C...

I saw those but wasn’t sure if they were decent or not. I might end up doing that actually, thank you for the positive feedback. I think I’ll have the truck titled in my name Monday so might be driving it by the end of the month.

I don’t mean to be specifically trashing his tool especially since it appears to be the same one everyone sells. I also must add the rest of his products are unbelievably nice and installed very easily. To be fair I’m really mad at GM for making such a dumb design. Maybe their engineers have...
