wheel offset question

im buying wheels sunday and need to know what the diff would be between a 20x8.5 +12 and a 20x8.5 +25

The offset on those wheels are definitely a positive number, most likely a +25 or larger and the backspacing is probably 5" or larger. Just a guess. Remember, backspacing is measured in inches, offset in millimeters.

The backspacing comes into play too. The backspacing is just the measurement from the mounting point on the wheel (laying the outside of the wheel on the ground) to the edge of the wheel. As backspacing decreases, offset increases (in the negative direction) and vise versa. Stock 16"x7" wheels are somewhere around +28 to +31 offset. Check out the 2nd posts in both threads.

Those probably have a 5.25" back space. Maybe 5.5". That's what is used most commonly on square bodys
