thermostat gasket?

My thermostat is shot and I will be replacing it but I was curious which gasket to use the Oring type surrounding the thermostat itself or the Felpro thermostat housing gasket. also if i use the oring one , does the beveled side go up or down?

what year truck i think they started o ring only in 94

If it's s TBI, you'll need the paper gasket.

My 94 tbi t-stat started leaking, it had a fried o ring in it. I put a felpro paper gasket in and no more problems.

My 95 is o-ring not too sure bout 94

Turned out to be a stuck open thermostat, a MOTORAD brand. I used the new oring and am keepieng an eye out for leaks.
