Much better sound. Looks wise I coulda done a better job. Need to finish it out soon.

yea, i seen those pics... i was meaning to ask u (cuz i like a clean, factory look) would it have been possible to mount the speaker to the metal behind the trim, so that the trim could have been reused?

I like anything from Pioneer or Alpine. Good bang, low buck. I'm not a audiophile either. Just like good basic sounds.

I'm a big fan of either Polk or Infinity for smaller speakers. I have all Polk stuff in the house, its AMAZING.

im lookin on ebay and seein some "boss" "kicker" "infinity" etc.... and most every speaker im looking at is only like 30-40 bucks... is this too cheap for a good speaker or about right?

Yep. The stock trim leaves bout a 1/4" in between the metal and the plastic.

I should be getting them within a week and I will install the dash ones right away. I may wait till I am driving my S10 to take it in to get the rears installed. But I can def give a review of how they perform in the dash location.

my 91 (back in the day) had custom fit Kicker Resolution 5.25" drivers in those locations ... took alot of work, but performed like a champ ...

No thats about right for a 4x6 speaker. I bought new polk speakers for mine on Amazon for I think $26 a pair. Also for a little extra high freq I bought a set of one inch dome tweeters on ebay and spliced them into the wiring for the front speakers. I mounted them them in the speaker cover plate facing the windshield. Not the best looking job but it actually sounds pretty good. Just remember 4x6 speakers produce very little bass so for a fuller sound you may want to add a subwoofer.

I bought some Boston Acoustic 4" dash speakers, and 4x6 rears, and am very happy. Great highs and mids, fairly decent mid-bass too, which surprised me. No low end, but that's to be expected.
