2001 GMC Sierra 1500 driver's side interior door handle broke off. Repair ideas/tips?

Just like service manual recommends take it apart from the inside to replace the handle. If you don't have the OE service manuals, search at top" service manuals " for link to PDF.

I suspect they are different but I had to replace the passenger side interior handle on my '97. Got one on FleaBay. In my case I needed to drill out a rivet to remove the old assembly and install a new pop rivet when the new assembly was installed.
