I didn't have any trouble removing, or replacing, the screw using a fairly simple combination of tools. I'll say it again: "I personally would go ahead and put that top screw back in place as that actuator needs all the help it can get to stay properly aligned and do its job. It should be many years before it needs replacement.."
I just included the 2 main pics from my ancient write-up on the subject. The gist of it is the nutdriver bit, held in place by the gasket scraper (sorry for the blurry pic but holding those AND the camera was a bit sketchy), you can easily turn the bit with the wrench to get the screw loose for removal. Installation in reverse is pretty easy if you use a magnetic bit.
