Myth busters proved it, it doesn't help. I've always heard it does though lol.

Most people thought the tail gate acted much like a bulldozer blade to the air flow as to why they thought leaving it open/deleted decreased drag and improved mpg.

Now my question would be does a camper shell improve economy over a open tail bed? I am thinking it should by streamlining the air stream around the truck, but I do not have any evidence/facts to back up my theory.

Ok I picked up 1.5 MPG by putting in a higher temp thermostat, only chevron gasoline, and light viscosity 5w30 oil...
all while still driving faster than a meth-head moonshiner with explosive diarrhea.
So if I can manage to slow down I think I can turn this 16MPH into 18.....

Driving the 15 south from Utah I got 19.5MPG bone stock. Cruise control set at 70. But... Maybe that's because that drive looses a lot of elevation.

I really want an electronic fan. I had one before and the gains were fantastic! !
But then it burned up and locked.... so now im nervous about them for dependability.

What is the "big 3 mod" ?

My Tahoe is dropped 4/5.5 on 18" wheels
I drive 80 miles round trip to work everyday on freeway. So constant 70 and sometimes hitting 75.
I get 16.5 to 17 MPG
Truck has 242k miles
Nothing special done to it. Regular maintenance and previous owner had done a full tune up when i bought it.
I just did the 0411 PCM swap, see what that does to my mpg.

E Fan is on my list also. Now that i have the PCM to control it.
Big 3 is the
Ground wire from the engine to frame
Ground wire from Battery to Frame/fender
Alternator wire to battery
I think that's right

Mine looked to be in good shape and the alt wire to battery is a decent size gauge (4 gauge i think). But I did add a 4 gauge (I think) wire from the battery to the fender. My gauge is now more on the right side than before it was always on the low side.
