no air from defroster

96 burb, dual ac if that matters any.......i have no air coming from the defroster vents. on the heat/def mix, i get it from the foot area and door vents, thats it. when i go to def only, i hear the air speed increase, as though there is a block, and i get air from the door window vents and still the floor only, nothing out the top.

is this common? stuck blend door somewhere? if so, how much of a pain is it to reach. remove the entire dash?

Probably a blend door or an actuator. Most likely a thread or two already on here regarding repair and dash removal.

My blend door in my Yukon actually broke, and was just flapping about doing whatever it liked.

I watched some youtube vids, I think the repair took me about 3 hours. Not hard, just tedious.
