Manually switch gear in electronic 4wd

Hello all,

Recently my encoder motor went bad on my '96 k1500 and my transfer case is stuck in neutral. I am going to be putting a new encoder motor in and was wondering how I can manually put it in 2wd and how I can ensure that my encoder motor is also in 2wd. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Perhaps a moderator will move this thread to "Transfer Cases" instead of "Transmissions".

Be sure the snap-ring on the output shaft in intact. They break, then the transfer case can't be shifted, then the encoder motor fries.
