You raise the center support bearing with the spacer kit. That solves the pinion angle issue...lowering that much straightens out the driveline; using the carrier bearing spacer re-introduces some angle to it.

Richard, I have always pointed the pinion at the tranny or transfer case. Are you saying that the drive shaft should have some angle to it?

No, the pinion and the tail shaft planes should be parallel-always (actually, the nose of the pinion should be down a couple degrees to compensate for axle rotation under throttle). But on an extra-cab, when you do a flip kit, the pinion, center support, and tail shaft are all on the same plane. U-joints are a lot happier if they actually have some angle to them, so, spacing the center support up 1/2" gives it a slight angle.
