Hey guys,

My 98 is showing its age from Maine/Massachusetts winters. I'm looking to get the frame cleaned up as best as possible to keep this guy alive for the future.

When it comes to prepping for undercoat, are you guys directly applying the stuff or shooting primer down first?

ive been using a chassis paint, just clean the rust off, and paint it right on the metal, seems to be holding up pretty nice

and to answer the op, I'd sand/grind as best I could and just undercoat over it!

Excellent, looks like i'm all set to get down to business as soon as the weather warms up again.
I don't think this thing was ever garaged, or washed - runs great though for 140k

Thanks a lot Draggin95, I can't find many bad reviews of the rust seal product.
Following your advice, I've got a quart coming to my door step.

Now if only I could get some warm weather
