The local exhaust shop quoted me $600 for a custom y-pipe to a SI/SO 3" dump, with a 3x5 Tip... I'm thinking this is ludicrous?!?

So, my plan is to buy some flowtech mid's with a flowtech y-pipe. My concern here is I can't find any 2.5" to 3" y's, although I can find a 3" to 3" y.

Looking at this article, I should be going with 1.5" primaries with 2.5" collectors for optimal performance: http://www.superchevy.com/how-to/148-0404-best-headers-shootout/viewall.html
Which is why I would like to find a Y that fits the flowtech 11108FLT headers.

After I get that part solved, I just need to find a kit for doing a slip fit SI/SO 3" dumped, using a flowmaster 40 delta series.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

IMHO that quote doesn't really sound that bad for what you're describing. Also just my opinion again, but I think you're complicating things more than what's necessary with your choice of equipment. Those headers have no EGR or AIR fittings, so like you mentioned in your other thread you'd have to eliminate them. On top of that, using headers that aren't really designed for your application is going to make finding a pre-fab Y-pipe (that will dump out where you want it to) very difficult. If you're set on eliminating EGR and AIR and want to stick to the primary/collector dimensions you specified then I'd be looking at actual long tubes and possibly considering true duals. Either that or stick to shorties and the OEM Y-pipe (or dual downpipes in your case) and call it a day. The cost of fabricating a Y is most likely what's driving your price up.

Yeah sorry for the post *******, other subject didn't seem to fit.

Just seems odd to me that I had a header back x pipe with bullets done on my f150 for $250.

I am just trying to get every little bit of performance out of this beached whale.

Here is the "Y" pipe I put on mine, it's a 2.5" to 3" you said you were not able to find. It made a huge difference too. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001NRXA2O/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Cool - Thank you,

So far I have come up with Flowtech 11504 Headers (1 5/8" Primaries w/ 3" collectors with a 3x2.25 Reducer) and Flowtech 11504Y Y-Pipe that's 2.25" to 3". They will fit our truck like stock, too.

So if I don't end up going that way, if I find they don't work for some reason, then I am gonna end up using the mid headers I first mentioned, with that Y pipe Cadon69 linked.

Let you all know what I end-up doing.

If you had your choice on either, would you go with-

This: http://www.jegs.com/i/Flowtech/387/11504/10002/-1 and http://www.jegs.com/i/Flowtech/387/11504Y/10002/-1
or

In the above examples, can anyone tell me if the Y-pipe connects directly to the header? Or is it expected that cats/downpipes are to be put in between them?

Thanks,
