So my 1998 Tahoe was a California rig, so it was equipped with a ton of smog equipment and sensors. Fast forward to this year, and I live in an area with no smog requirements. And I was forced to upgrade to the Jegs Y-Pipe due to a rust issue and I removed the cats. I went with the Jegs Y-Pipe because it stated it had the bung holes for the sensors (Half truth) and I attempted this modification to fool the o2 censors:

watch

It didn’t work and the Y-Pipe had bung holes for 2 sensors, but my rig had 3 (Dam you California).

So I’ve been driving my rig with only 2 of the 3 o2 sensors attached, so obviously my check engine light is on. So I’m wondering, has anyone upgraded their computer so the o2 sensors can be deleted completely?

Saw these guys, but don’t know if this can be done?

@kennythewelder did a trick to eliminate the post Cats O2s. You don't wanna delete your pre-Cat ones, they tell the computer how rich/lean it's running so it can adjust your fueling, giving you better performance and mileage.

I put spark plug non foulers in my old 98. Light never came back on. Was like that for months before I got an ECM that was tuned, then they turned off the down stream ones. But for $10-15 whatever they cost, worth a shot!!
