Went to salvage yard that listed a k2500 shaft in inventory jhst to find out they no longer had it. Another yard wants $150 for one thats dented (wtf?). Called driveline shop n dude said to cut it down, weld, balance is $125. Deal! So my question is, can i keep the front on jackstands to measure yoke to yoke on the rear shaft or should i put whole truck up on stands? Im not sure if i can measure it sittin on tires cuz dunno if i can squeeze my gut under it hahaha

Put your jackstands under your axle. Take the measurement from the end of the transmission's output shaft to the middle of the rear yoke.

When you talk with the driveshaft builder, tell him you put the rear axle on jackstands and took the measurement from the end of the transmission's output shaft to the middle of the rear yoke.
